The Kiss

Last Sabbath! Enter Lazarus' home,

Two kisses were exchanged.

Grateful, adoration overflowed.

From tomb to home, what more!

Mary longed to kiss Your sweet face,

But kosher she’d remain.

The taboo line she'd not step over

Nor sully Your pure name.

Uninvited, came to the feast,

Hung’ring only to thank.

Fragrant nard, tears, and long flowing hair;

His feet were kissed and washed.

Cleansed Simon shrank from greeting kiss

His repute to preserve.

Whispered story of debts forgiven;

Won over sight and soul.

Temple court no more a market,

Kids and sick now mob You.

Two-year old plants a slobbering kiss,

Babe sleeps on thy sweet breast.

In garden serene kiss he plants,

The price: thirty silver.

High court had no greeting kiss to give;

Only spit, slaps and punches.

The cross gave up thy limp dead body

Same as any other.

Heavens rain washed your body quite clean

For mom’s adieu kisses.

Sunday morn to embalm they came.

Confused, scared they retreat.

Master’s voice was crystal clear, "Mary";

His feet she kissed again!
